NOW YOU CAN CHECK YOUR PETS D3 LEVELS WITH AN AFFORDABLE TEST. READ ON TO FIND OUT HOW.
In short, it’s pretty simple.
We humans get our D3 from sunlight and our pets get it only from their diet. The synthetic D that’s in our pet foods doesn’t seem to cut the mustard.
That’s why - at Deserving Pets - we put 400 IU of high quality, human-grade vitamin D3 in our dog vitamins and 200 IU in our cat vitamins.
If your dog or cat has IBD there is no doubt that he or she is D3 deficient, as the intestinal absorption is impaired. The same goes for pets in kidney failure, as the kidney converts the D2 to its active D3 form.
Every year more and more research adds to our understanding how very important D3 is for our pets. Low stores of vitamin D are a proven risk factor for cancer, heart and kidney disease, infections, IBD, Canine Dementia and other
diseases.
There are some great links at the end of the article so you can learn the basics about D3 to keep your pet
healthy.
Dr. Khalsa has used VDI Labs to test her patient's Vitamin D3 levels for many years. She has worked with VDI labs to make the test easily available to you, at Deserving Pets, so you can get it at a lower cost and because it's just
easier for you to do it this way.
Before you had to ask your veterinarian to order the test specially for your pet and wait for it to come in. Then you had to go for another office visit to
get the blood drawn (only a few drops of blood are needed and they are placed on a special blotter paper). Then the veterinarian had to mail it back to the lab.
Oftentimes, the cost of the test to the client surprised us. Dr. Khalsa likes to retest low D3 levels after changing the diet or supplementing and the test was running two hundred
dollars at some clinics. That made it unaffordable.
You can now get this test for 75 dollars at Deserving Pets. When you're at your veterinarian's office for a yearly check or for any other blood draw, simply
kindly ask that they put a few drops of blood on the paper and you mail it in to the lab yourself (in a normal envelope).
We're happy to announce that your pets can have their vitamin D3 levels checked and
corrected, if needed. And that is so very, very important!
