The team found that exposing B. burgdorferi to stevia leaf extract wiped out Lyme disease in its different
forms :(1) spirochetes,(2) round bodies , (3) spheroplast (L-form), (4) the exceptionally hard-to-kill biofilm forms.
Lyme assumes many forms to enhance its survival. Borrelia shift into a more dormant, “round body” state when unfavorable conditions in the body strike or when a body’s immune system starts to mount an attack. Antibiotic exposure can also have the same effect
The form that is most elusive is the“biofilm” form, where the bacteria hide themselves in a complex protein/mucous mixture for protection against antibiotics.
Here's the good news.
The study found stevia leaf extract actually killed all forms of the Lyme germ, including its biofilm form. That said, this study occurred in a petri dish in the laboratory and the organism hides in many different tissues of the body. It loves the brain as it is so spongy. Sometimes I wonder if that is why we are seeing so many cases of Canine Dementia nowadays
