Beanie, a mischievous Black and Tan Dachshund puppy, is the perfect example that tenacity and trust are key when providing care to our four-legged family members. Here is Beanie’s story-one puppy’s journey in his quest to resolve an unknown “wart.” Here's how it all started:
I noticed a small bump near his tail. Believing this bump stemmed from a tick, I thought nothing of it and would allow the bump to go
away naturally over time.
After a few weeks, the bump grew to the size of a large
pea. In addition to the pea-sized bump, a small wart formed on his right foot. With no signs of improvement from watching and waiting, I decided to seek Dr. Khalsa’s help. Dr. Khalsa diagnosed Beanie with Canine Papilomas. This indicated an immune glitch in Beanie’s system. She immediately started Beanie on Neoplasine salve, and I applied it to the affected areas until the warts fell off. In order to build Beanie’s immune system Cellogane 6 was added. Cellogane 6 ensured Beanie’s immune
system had support and prevented additional warts from developing.
There was a noticeable improvement after the first salve application and from Beanie’s reaction he could sense a change too. As the treatment progressed, the small wart on his foot fell off, leaving a flat, round circle
and the area around the bump.
The wart near his tail was crusting up like lava and turned gray. By the third salve application, the wart near his tail set fell off. There was a half-inch deep crater the size of a silver dollar that remained. Clearly, the growth near his
tail set was not a wart. Dr. Khalsa confirmed this observation and wondered if the bump may have been a histocytoma, and not a wart!
Dr. Khalsa recommended a calendula tincture/0.9% sodium chloride (normal saline) spray be applied to
Beanie’s wound. Initially, we placed the spray onto the wound in 10-minute increments. Later, a 2” x 2” gauze saturated with calendula tincture and saline was applied When the wound flattened, Dr. Khalsa changed to calendula ointment as Beanie’s treatment regimen. For wound healing and scarring, Dr. Khalsa recommended Calendula 30c and Thiosinaminum 30c (a remedy to prevent scarring) twice a day for three weeks.
To witness the progression of Beanie’s wound within a four-week period was nothing short of amazing. The initial half-inch deep, silver dollar-sized crater shrunk to a flat, superficial, wound measuring a half centimeter in diameter. Beanie’s wound would not have healed properly if it were not for Dr. Khalsa’s support and guidance.
Importantly, the alternative would have been surgery which would have
required a pretty big incision. We're very pleased the fur totally grew back on the right foot and the wound near Beanie’s tail set is closing. Currently, Beanie is looking forward to a long, healthy life filled with love and squeaky toys.
