When we adopted our darling little Beagle pup, she came to us from her first home, the apartment of two college
students.
They loved her enough to realize they couldn’t give her the outdoor life a beagle deserves and gave her to us instead. They had adopted her from a pet store, at a great price. At her first visit with our vet, the doctor, also a legit beagle breeder, indicated that her “pedigree papers” were phony in every way,
including her age.
What we all loved about Daphne though, as soon as we met her was captured by what our vet said at that visit.
“This dog has been through a fair amount of trauma at her young age and yet, look at her. She meets the world with a smile and an open
heart.”
After a number of tests, the vet pronounced Daphne to be a rare dog indeed, one that came from a puppy mill and yet was completely
sound in body and mind.
We adored our happy little girl and loved how she made friends everywhere she went.
That all changed five months later when we had her spayed. An unfortunate decision was made after Daphne’s spay surgery, to put her on a drug called Trazadone, to keep her bubbly self safe and quiet for two long weeks to ensure she recovered properly.
At the end of that two weeks, we had a completely different puppy.
She was nervous, paced much of the time and barked at every leaf that moved in our backyard. Her symptoms became especially worse when dusk fell and once she started barking, she could be out of control for as long as 45 minutes, even though we tried to redirect her and comfort her. Her doggie play group humans pulled us aside one day and told us she had turned into a bully with the other dogs. Our hearts were broken.
Our vet assured us that this was “normal adolescent beagle behavior,” but we weren’t buying it.
Thank God our children recommended Dr. Deva to us after her treatment of their dog. After several months of grieving the loss of our happy go lucky girl and wondering what to do with the neurotic dog that had replaced her, we had our first consult with Dr. Deva.
Through the course of several months, under Dr. Deva’s care, we detoxified Daphne from Trazodone and also used homeopathic remedies and Chinese Herbs to quiet her body and mind and restore her original personality. It took patience, tenacity and dietary
changes but it was so worth it. Once again, our sweet girl meets the world with enthusiasm and a smile. And she does not need any remedies or herbs~ they simply worked and cured her!
If you are struggling with your dog, especially if you notice a sudden change, please, please don’t
lose hope. They are most likely struggling with some of kind of parasite, toxin or vaccine reaction. Dr. Deva can help.
