"Dr. Khalsa is magic.
My beautiful boy, Buck, a golden retriever, had just turned 15 when I
took him last month to see Dr. Khalsa at her practice in
Pennsylvania. We'd never been there before, but Buck jumped out of my
tall SUV on our arrival as if he understood he was going someplace
special. (The SUV is tall, and I had always lifted his delicate,
60-pound body in and
out.)
"Buck is a strong dog, of superhero retrieving status and reputation,
though after 15 years, he had some health considerations. He had been
injured by a vaccine as a puppy and had suffered for years from food
allergies. He also had some spine disfigurement caused by a long
unrecognized shoulder injury. In this last year, he'd also been
diagnosed with Lyme disease, something I didn't think he could get since
he'd been exposed to thousands of them
over the course of his long life
in our highly wooded home. Dr. Khalsa had helped me treat his Lyme
disease. She had also helped me provide him some allergy relief with her AE4P's treatment protocol. She also helped me diagnose and quickly treat him, at 14, for a late-life case of hookworms - an illness that looked so dire I was considering putting him to sleep.
"I had been taking Buck monthly for a "spa day" at the local vet, which
included a chiropractic
adjustment, acupuncture, and laser treatment. Buck was known well at the local vet because of his beauty and delightful nature, and monthly visits. :)
"A couple of months ago, I was surprised to find him growing a little
tired and eventually waking up one morning with his head turned
sideways. His back legs were unstable, too. I later learned that he
was experiencing a bout of vestibular disease, not uncommon in older
dogs. He was also dehydrated and so, so
dizzy, and miserable. He looked so sick. I took him to the local vet and he looked so bad they gave him fluids out in the car. I suspected he was dehydrated because he'd been stealing our new puppy's kibble, dry food he doesn't usually eat, and I had been dehydrated myself a few months earlier so i could relate to his symptoms and that awful feeling.
"My local vet was uncomfortable giving me more fluids I suspect because
she wasn't sure what his health condition was.
So I called Dr. Khalsa,
who had been critical for Buck's good health in these recent aging
years. She prescribed subcutaneous fluids and all of the materials that
accompany that through an online pharmacy, as well as called in a
prescription at my local pharmacy. Within 2 days, Buck had made a turn for the better. An immense relief, really.
"Dr. Khalsa had reminded me that she offered special VSEL stem cell treatments and she and I agreed that Buck would be a
great candidate. She suggested that the sooner I got there, the better.
"I had to give him a couple weeks of hydration and recovery time, and
then we set off on the 5.5 hour drive to her place.
"The vaccine injury I mentioned earlier that he had as a baby had also left
him almost unable to ride in a car because of 'deep-to-his-core' motion
sickness and anxiety. So, in 15 years, I had never driven him further
than the 2 hours and 30 minutes to my
mother-in-law's house. Driving in
a car was torturous for him. That had gotten a little better over the
years, maybe because of the happy monthly spa treatments :), but by the
time we were 2 hours into the drive to Dr. Khalsa's, he was miserable.
Sitting upright most of the last few hours. I was questioning whether I
should be going all the way because he seemed so carsick and deeply
miserable.
"Then...we got there...and he jumped for joy out of the
car! That had
NEVER happened before, in his life!
"Dr. Khalsa greeted us happily and prepared for our special VSEL stem cell
treatment. She spoke with Buck so generously and affectionately, all
the while taking his blood, then walking it out of the room to "prepare"
it. She came back and shared with Buck, and me, and her longtime friend
and colleague, Lee, what the blood looked like and all the tiny, almost microscopic VSEL cells 'waking up' and what she
was going to do with it next, before she put it lovingly back in him, in its revitalized new form.
"She injected the blood in its new form in the places he needed it the
most along with the IV. She also gave him a chiropractic treatment using an activator adjustment tool - a metal object that gently and quickly assists in pushing vertebra back into alignment.
"Buck had seemed genuinely happy to get to visit Dr. Khalsa. In fact, I
marveled how special it was to see
him from her eyes and in this new
space. It was different from looking at him the way I had, in all of
these years, with concern or consideration for his well-being. It was
like another side of him was revealed to me. It was so fresh!
"And that was BEFORE the treatment.
"After the treatment, immediately after, Buck seemed at ease and
delighted. He seemed genuinely appreciative, too. Buck had had a
swayed back, from the spine
compression/disfigurement, and pressure in
his neck and tightness in his lower legs and feet. When Dr. Khalsa
finished with him that morning, his back was straight and naturally
raised to its "normal" status. When he sits, his spine is straight and
it allows him to sit upright to more enthusiastically request treats. :)
"Since we've been home, my family marvels, "he's a different dog!". He
has energy, and has even asked to have his beloved, yellow lacrosse
ball
thrown to him again, a few times in a row, too. I'd thought those days
were over. And a couple of weeks after we'd returned, he and I were
walking in the woods behind our house. I was preoccupied with some work
issues, looking down at the ground, when he stepped ahead of me, and
unexpectedly jumped OVER a DOWNED TREE! I was startled and over the
moon with joy that he was discovering his new, strong way.
"The ride home was NOT fraught with
motion sickness, his stamina for
life events was already visibly increasing, he was happy and comfortable
walking outside for travel breaks.
"Back at home now, he wants to walk in the woods every day, or more, and
eats all types of delicious food, and more of it I suppose because his
metabolism has increased, and seems to be interested in riding in the
car if that's where I'm going. His head has leveled out, and in the
last couple of weeks, he stopped getting dizzy
from shaking his head.
"This seems groundbreaking to me. I joked with a friend that I could
take my 1-year old cat with me to Dr. Khalsa for the VSEL stem cell treatment, and that she might live to be 45!
"I think it is also foretelling of a positive contribution to human
health and well-being, as well as that of our animal companions.
"How special that we have the opportunity to re-think what age might
mean, and that I have my beloved Buck with me
to help me break out of
my own stereotypes of age and well-being.
"This has been a privilege beyond measure. I've always been thankful
for knowing and benefiting from Dr. Khalsa, but to have had the
opportunity to meet her, be with her, and experience this groundbreaking
healing modality for my animal, I am eternally grateful.
