By now.....you might be wondering what's the main point of all this?
Well......t's a story about VSEL treatments. And an unusual story at that.
Once upon a time, those in
the know - the upper crust of society as one might say, knew about VSEL treatments.
Then the athletes came.
Later in time, people with incurable diseases ferreted out the M.D.s who did these treatments.
Now, VSEL treatments have become far more commonplace for people who want to reverse aging and maintain optimal health.
Presently, 3 veterinarians do VSEL treatments for animals.
But......
This is the FIRST time pigs have been the fortunate recipients of VSEL therapy.
And our Sunny boy was not even on the list to be treated that day!
I volunteered my time to perform VSEL treatments on pot-bellied pigs at Ross Mill Farms. These treatments aimed to improve the quality of life for pigs who were suffering.
Pigs are challenging to draw blood from and require anesthesia for the procedure. To assist with this, another veterinarian and a veterinary nurse also volunteered their time, and Ross Mill Farms purchased an inhalant anesthesia
machine. We had four to five 150-pound pot-bellied pigs scheduled for treatment, and we carefully lifted each one onto the gurney, anesthetizing them for the procedure.
During the day, I learned that Sunny, a pig I'd often noted for his enormous size, was scheduled to be euthanized the following day because he was collapsing and unable to walk. I immediately decided that Sunny would be the next pig to treat. Despite his
500-pound bulk using up the entire tank of oxygen, we successfully completed the procedure. We could not lift him so he stayed on the floor for the treatment. You can see a video of him waking up from anesthesia, with an adoring fan of his who was a routine visitor singing to him as he recovered, here:
