Push Push had been pacing and yowling constantly, day and night. It was so loud that no one in the house was able to sleep. Her discomfort was clearly increasing rapidly. We tried various remedies, and while some seemed to offer slight relief, she continued to scream through the night and lost her ability to jump onto furniture. Just being picked up caused her pain.

Her quality of life was quite poor.

It's easy to underestimate how common feline arthritis can be and by the time it's noticeable it progresses rapidly.  At the time, we weren't sure if her screaming and yowling was due to her arthritic pain or age-related cognitive decline.

Arthritis, also known as osteoarthritis or degenerative joint disease, is a common condition in cats that causes inflammation in the joints, leading to pain, discomfort, and stiffness. Estimates suggest that more than 80% of cats over the age of 10 suffer from arthritis.
