I am writing to share Ivy's remarkable story and express my profound gratitude for your exceptional care. You were my veterinarian 40 years ago when I lived in Pennsylvania, and I was ecstatic to learn you had returned to the States and were nearby after living in New Zealand for 16 years.
Ivy, a 12½-year-old mixed-breed American Eskimo, was originally a feral street dog from Puerto Rico. At six months old, she was sent to the mainland, hairless from mange. After six months in foster care, she joined my home and my Standard Poodle.
Shortly after her third rabies vaccine, Ivy became anemic. In December 2020, she also tested positive for Lyme disease. All of this created an immune dysfunction and led to autoimmune hemolytic anemia. Under your care, with multiple supplements and natural remedies, she fully recovered. You had mentioned the possibility of the hemolytic anemia returning in the liver years later, and it did.
On June 21, 2023, Ivy was admitted to the emergency room in Delaware for seven days. Her prognosis was poor, with alarmingly high liver enzymes: ALT at 1879, AST at 1075, and ALP at 1492. Her bile acids were above 16, and nothing seemed to lower them. Ivy was jaundiced and her skin and eyes were yellow. She was not
eating.
Upon consulting with you, Ivy received a glutathione infusion, followed by transdermal glutathione, stem cell injections, and other holistic remedies. Her liver enzymes returned to normal.
Many veterinarians I know through my work have stated that most dogs do not survive hemolytic anemia once, and none survive autoimmune disease twice.
Ivy defied those odds.
She is now strong, energetic, and healthy, as animated as she was years ago.
No one believes she is 12½; her groomer recently commented on how
fantastic she looks, especially considering her condition when she was sick. This remarkable recovery would not have been possible without your expertise in alternative care.
Sincerely,
Ronni
