Sandy (our 12-y.o.Cockapoo) has the best Vet a girl could ask for!!
Her allergies started when she was 5 with licking and biting her paws and legs all the time. She had hot spots that wouldn’t go away. She was so itchy. We tried to
figure out if it was her food or her environment. Her regular vet put her on a special diet kibble along with steroids. When that didn’t work they recommended Apoquel.
I had read horror stories of people who had put their dogs on this medicine.
We declined.
Next we went to a vet dermatologist who did a complete allergy
series. Sandy reacted to a bunch of random things. We were told to eliminate these things and give her frequent baths with a nasty shampoo filled with chemicals. We did it because Sandy was miserable.
This continued for 6-months with no improvement at all.
I started reading and watching anything I could about dog allergies, and found Dr. Deva Khalsa’s book, “Natural Dog.” I
learned about natural ways to take care of dogs. In it I found recipes to start cooking for Sandy. I took her off of the special kibble diet. She loved the new food but she was still itching!
I learned about Dr. Khalsa’s Allergy Elimination Technique through her videos on YouTube. I’ll admit I was skeptical but I made an appointment to talk to her by phone.
I was overwhelmed
with the amount of knowledge that Dr. Khalsa had about allergies. I had no idea there was another way to help Sandy heal from within. I sent her some of Sandy’s fur and some scrapings from her skin. She diagnosed what Sandy was reacting to. There were foods and environmental triggers but this time the goal was to enable her body to tolerate these things. She had a yeast infection but was allergic to the yeast itself, magnifying the intensity of the itch. She sent us a
bunch of glass vials.
I wondered how this non-invasive treatment could actually help.
My husband laughed at me as I put the vials against her body and tapped down her spine every day.
We began to see signs of improvement. Her sores cleared up and her fur returned to its normal color
(her saliva had turned the fur on her mouth and paws dark). Dr. Khalsa also diagnosed an underactive thyroid. She taught me that this can impact the immune system, opening the door to intolerances in the environment.
Sandy made a complete recovery from allergies and skin issues.
We began to consult with Dr. Khalsa on a variety of issues.
This past year, she treated Sandy in-person with VSEL therapy for a partial cruciate ligament tear.
After a few months, Sandy made a near complete recovery.
Today, we are working with Dr. Khalsa on an eye injury and a UTI. We still use a local vet, but Dr. Khalsa helps us navigate that relationship as well.
We
have yet to bring an issue to Dr. Khalsa that she has been unable to fix. She is a teacher and a healer. But more than that, her love for animals shines through. Thank you Dr. Khalsa for giving our Sandy a path to healing and a better life!
