Nikola Tesla did not invent ozone itself—which was discovered by Christian Friedrich Schönbein in 1839—but Tesla patented the first efficient portable ozone generator in 1896. He founded the Tesla Ozone Company in 1900, which produced generators for medical, industrial, and air purification purposes, pioneering the use of high-voltage, high-frequency currents to produce ozone. 

Key Facts About Tesla and Ozone:

• Patented Technology: Tesla’s 1896 patent (No. 568,177) for an "Apparatus for Producing Ozone" used a corona discharge method to convert oxygen into ozone, a technique that remains the basis for modern ozone generators.
• Commercialization: He marketed his ozone generators for sanitizing air and created ozonated olive oil, which he sold to medical professionals for its germicidal properties.
• Medical Use: In the early 20th century, Tesla was a strong advocate for using ozone in medicine, a practice known as ozonotherapy. 

Ozone is a wonderful treatment for many things.

But........

Ozone (\(O_{3}\)) dissipates quickly—often within 15 to 30 minutes in the air—because it is an unstable molecule that naturally reverts to stable oxygen (\(O_{2}\))

Certain oils [such as coconut and olive oil] could hold some ozone and that was nice.
